Quality vermicompost from tea waste using earthworm species Eudrilus eugeniae
Abstract
Vermicomposting is a very effective, eco-friendly, cheap and easy method of recycling biodegradable waste using selected species of earthworms. The aim of this investigation was to exploit the potential lying in earthworm species to convert factory tea waste into high quality vermicompost. The factory tea waste in combination with other biowastes and amendments at different proportions was vermicomposted for 2 months using Eudrilus eugeniae. The present study revealed that the vermicomposting has a great future in production of quality organic manure in terms of physico-chemical and biological attributes from biodegradable waste.
