Abstract

The present study was undertaken to quantify variation in productivity status of tea gardens in four major tea growing belts of Assam viz., Upper Assam, South Bank, North Bank, and Cachar, Each of the regionsn is considered to be homogenous in terms of agro-climatic conditions. Long term yield data are recorded for the period 2006 to 2015 were collected from TRA member gardens from the four different regions of Assam. Findings suggest that a wide variation exists between tea estates with similar agro-climatic conditions. However, some of the tea estates
exhibited a narrow productivity variation which indicated their consistency level, maintained over the period.
