Abstract

A study was undertaken with twenty weed species, common in tea fields, to determine different phenological stages in order to locate the vulnerable period for undertaking appropriate control measures.  The active growth period of most of the species was found to be from April to September coinciding with the critical period of weed control.  Flowering and reproductive stages were from May to October varying with different species.  The nutrients locked up in weed biomass viz., N, P2O5 and K2O were also investigated.
